Game of Thrones

Late last night I started watching the first season of Game of Thrones. In the first 10 minutes I was hooked! I would call it Historical Fiction. Its when men were knights and women were married off to make alliances between families. As well as talking about dragons and white walkers. If you watch the first 10 minutes of the first episode it will show you the white walkers. If you want to learn more about the HBO show I found a website gameofthrones.tv that can give you a little more explanation. I don't like to give too much away, because I personally don't like to know too much before watching/reading. You can buy the first season on iTunes or find it for cheaper on Amazon.com for the DVD's. As for watching the upcoming season 2, I'm not sure how you can watch it without having HBO. However, you can read the books! Do you know what my next read will be??
I really recommend this. If you are like me and loved the movie Gladiator, Lord of the Rings and pretty much any type of British Historical movie, I think, like me, you'll fall in love with Game of Thrones.

French Roast

This is a lovely spring morning and the temp was 32 when I walked my little Coco girl, she had to wear her little pink sweater that my sister gave her for Christmas. She hates to put on shirts, but her being a little short haired pup that is meant for hot temps, I can't bear to see her shiver when the 20 mile per hour winds want to whisk her away like Piglet from Winnie the Poo.

I actually had on my long winter coat on, and boy was I glad when that wind hit my face that I could button my jacket all the way up to my nose!

As soon as I got inside I had my hot water already heating up in the Keurig. The Keurig is not mine, but I have grown to like it, the clean up is easy, however, I've grown up with a mother that grinds her coffee every morning. When I went home I could definitely taste the difference from my Keurig pods to the freshly ground coffee. However, the clean up took much longer.

Anyway, for a long time I was drinking the semi-Kona coffee and my mom had switched to French Roast, which is a whole lot bolder than Kona and I really liked it. I figured I would try a Keurig pod version and I chose Starbucks brand.

I love the rich and bold flavor. I have to admit I've never actually had a cup of coffee at Starbucks, I always go for an Americano or Mocha or even Earl Grey, is that weird? I guess I always try to get something that I couldn't make at home. So back to my coffee that I'm loving this morning and I'm on my second cup already, I put a splash of sugar free hazelnut creamer and off I go to sip and I'm in love.

Also in that picture is my iPhone with my new favorite app called Draw Some. There is a free version and if you just want to try it out I recommend it, however after a while you notice that there are the same words so I got the 99¢ one and it says there are 2000 words and I think they add more words every so often. You can connect with your Facebook or your email address and you can play your friends or just random people and it's like a game of pictionary. They give you 3 words to choose from, easy, medium, hard and you collect coins to "buy" more colors to draw with, or to help you get rid of letters to help you guess the word, or if you don't like the 3 word choices you can use your coins to get 3 new words. I personally only use the coins to buy more colors, it comes in handy when you want to draw something much more detailed. One thing I have to say is that it's MUCH easier to play this on an iPad because you have more room to draw. But I do not have an iPad so iPhone it is for me.

Here's one picture to give you an idea of how wonderful I draw...

What do you think? Could you guess that?

Have a wonderful morning!

The Philadelphia Story

I went to visit my friends in Philadelphia this weekend. My one friend, who is pregnant, lives there and I took the 1.5 hour drive down and my other friend drove from Pittsburgh. It was fun, we met at King of Prussia Mall and enjoyed a lunch at Legal Sea Foods. I got the crab roll and my friends got the lobster roll and I have to say I should have ordered the lobster roll. It was good though.

Then we walked around that gigantic mall! We played around in Sur La Table, where I bought some pretty napkins that were on sale and a jar of one of my favorite jams from Stonewall Kitchen, called Raspberry Peach Champagne. Doesn't it just sound wonderful?

My friends bought BBQ stuff, which just made me that much more excited about summer. After walking around the mall for a bit my pregnant friend had to go home and lay down. So my other friend and I headed to our hotel room in the city. I have to say there are so many one way streets it can get confusing. But isn't that how every city is?

We finally got our hotel room and then we were off in search of South Street. Which ended up not being too far. We did a lot of walking this weekend, but it we stayed in Center City so it made everything really close. It was fun because we got to know the area. My favorite was the Historic District near the Water front.

For dinner we went to The Continental Mid-town. We got two tapas (which were way bigger than what I consider tapas.) We got the lobster mac n cheese which was divine. We also go the Philly cheese steak egg rolls which were good as well. I didn't get a chance to take pictures because we started eating right away.

They have really good martinis in all different flavors.

During the day, we walked to the Reading Terminal Market.

I bought these lovely chocolate covered pretzels, that I came to love when I used to live in Pittsburgh. I had to get the Easter basket because I thought it was so colorful.

It was a really fun weekend. I need to take another trip there soon.

Spring Time in the City

I went into the city yesterday and it was beautiful, a little cloudy, but still the temperature was perfect. I got there right before 5 and it was already "rush hour", there were soooo many people!

I was in the Flat Iron District area and there is a Shake Shack there. I had heard that they had good burgers so I had to check it out. I asked the lady in line what she liked here. She said the Shack Burger was good, but everything was good and said she was getting a shake. I decided I would just stick with the signature burger and fries.

I have to say it was really good, everything tasted fresh and since it was such a wonderful day, sitting in the park was a perfect way to enjoy it.

My view of the Empire State Building.

My view of the statue in Madison Square Park, where the Shake Shack was located.

I also took a picture on my walk to my appointment around Gramercy Park. I thought this fence was beautiful and the little yellow flowered vine wrapped around it was so pretty.

I love the flowers in the spring everything looks so pretty, but I can't wait for the leaves on the trees to come out! I love walking out the door and seeing something new bloomed outside. I can see some of the plants coming up in the yard and the leaves on the bushes are starting to come out.

Spring Time

Yesterday was the first day of Spring. And it was lovely!
I took the dogs to the park and enjoyed some sunshine and they enjoyed some sniffing around and some fetch.

Also my little Coco girl is a sun goddess, she could sit in the sun all day.

My plan was to sit in the park and read my book...but that never happened. Rocky was tired for maybe 30 seconds and then he wanted to play again.

How could I say no to that face though?!

There's a track right near where I was sitting and there were SO MANY PEOPLE walking/running/biking. Everyone was enjoying this wonderful spring day. Even though it's been a mild winter, everyone is excited for weather that means no jackets!

The other day I was in the city and all the bulb flowers are blooming! Here are some daffodils along the street.

My neighbors have some beautiful blooms as well. Hyacinth I believe their called. When I walk by they smell so good. Even the trees are starting to come alive. Loving it!

The Best Things in Life

are free! At least that's what the picture says on what someone posted on Facebook today.

I feel like this is really true. It's like most things in life, it's not what you're doing but who you're doing it with, whether it be something boring or something really fun it's the people around you that make it better (or worse).

I took a drive down the coast today...it wasn't free but it was nice to be out of the normal area where I live and seeing what I had never seen before. I enjoy driving, especially when the scenery is so nice. Nice coastal water, coastal towns and beautiful coastal homes. It was a good day.
